A security guard says he dreads to think what could happen at Gloucester’s Kimbrose Triangle.
Thomas Hodgetts works at Gloucestershire County Court and watches thousands of vehicles pass the shared space crossing between Gloucester Docks and Southgate Street every day.
Several times a day he sees motorists on their phone and has even witnessed two crashes because of people on their phones.
In one instance the car in front even slid onto the black and white lines where people assume they have right of way.
Despite the 20mph limit in the zone, Mr Hodgetts sees people driving at speed through the area.
“They’re on their phone holding it to their ear, of course they’re going quite fast. Or they have their heads down with their phone in their lap, they’re not looking where they’re going.
